As the Old adage goes Tamika has been singing ever since she could open her mouth. Tamika started singing for Audiences at the age of nine and right from the beginning you could see that this child was born to perform, She was quite small for her age but her vibrant personality certainly made up for any lack of height, she was not the prettiest or the most well dressed and she was more comfortable up in a tree than putting on makeup or having tea parties but when this vibrant young lady opened her mouth to sing all would stop to listen and be in awe of a voice that sounded way beyond her years.Tamika started doing amature musical theatre from 9yo with Murray Music and Drama group and performed any chance she got. At the ripe old age of 12yo Tamika performed at the W.A. Young perfomer of the year awards against contantestants that were up to twice her age and not only took out her age group but also the overall young acheiver award but if you were to ask Tamika what the highlight of the night was she would tell you it was meeting Chris Murphy who was an Australian Idol Finalist. Tamika was asked to sing with the local Orchestra and did many local events as a live singer with a live Orchestra, they often joked about how she could sing as loud as they could play and once even had to compete with boat racing, Tamika was very proud of the fact that they could still hear her nicely even with all the noise in the background. At 13yo Tamika and her Family Moved to Remote Northern Territory to a little Town called Nhulunbuy in Arnhem Land, whilst in Nhulunbuy Tamika became a valued part of the Town, singing the National Anthem for Australia Day and Territory Day, at the local Markets and Fundraising Events this helped her to earn the Australia Day Medallion in 2009 followed by many other Awards and Nominations for her efforts. While she was still in Nhulunbuy Tamika teemed up with a group of like minded young girls and formed the band Sync, the wrote 3 songs together and contributed to a CD brought out by her Highschool to help raise funds. In 2010 at 15yo Tamika Competed in Gove Idol where she recieved the Highest score ever reported in the History of the Competition with a haunting rendition of Whitney Houston's I will always love you, the organisers of the event were Impressed with this young lady that they flew their manager Mr Barry Conlon up to see for himself, he was so Impressed that he was quoted as saying that she had the potential to be the Next Kylie Monogue and encouraged Tamika's parents to Get her to a Major City, Tamika also got a Opportunity to sing at the Invite Only major Indigenous Event GARMA and be a Opening Act for Mental as Anything. In Jan 2011 Tamika and her Mum moved to Victoria where Tamika Joined Rockstar Experience and found her Inner Rock Chick and started singing coveres from The Darkness, The Beetles, Led Zeplin and ACDC. Tamika is now a 17yo young Lady who has learned to appreciate a bit of makeup and getting dressed up but still has a contagious vibrant personality and a glitter in her eyes that will make you want to listen to a voice that will leave you in awe. | bioFeature_2270_08137DEF-CB95-40F7-B6FF-21F437E449D3.jpg |
